I've been a Christian most of my life, and like many I sometimes (okay, often) take His salvation for granted. As I got more into the book, there were several great things that Max shared that reminded me of exactly why we call Him the Savior.

We all have baggage. We all have things in our life that hold us back from what God has called us to be. I know that in my own life, it's a daily task to consider what "head trash" of my own is clouding my judgement. In this book, Tony offers some guidance on how a Mentor Leader should take a look within.
The Mentor Leader by Tony Dungy – The Mind-set of a Mentor Leader: “It’s Not about Me”

A common theme in the Christian church, this phrase “it’s not about me” now has a new and different meaning for me. Some leaders rise to power, and use it as a platform to glorify oneself. Some believe that the rule of “do as I say, not as I do” is perfectly fine. But the Mentor Leader continually [...]

TobyMac has a song by the same title on his most recent CD, Tonight. The message of the song, and then this book is simple; our cities (including whichever one you and I live in) should be on our knees, praying to to Holy Father for guidance and always willing to serve him.

In the first chapter of the Mentor Leader, Tony Dungy describes the need for mentor leaders, and begins to unpack some of the qualities. I am beginning to take the Action Steps, as I accept the mandate of a Mentor Leader.

As I read this book, I found myself continually asking "who in my life I can mentor". We hadn't been working with the kids at our church recently (though I'll be back in January), we have a small staff where I work, and most of my nephews and brother-in-laws are older. Perhaps my biggest opportunity to influence others at the moment is in our Small Group, the Men's Group that I'm a part of, and in our family. God has blessed us with a beautiful baby girl at home, and I will take several lessons from Tony's book to guide me in that role. And RIGHT NOW, I'm going to take steps to be a better Mentor Leader to those around me, today.

When I saw this book on Amazon.com, I thought… “I wonder, if that’s the same Mike from Ginghamsburg?” Sure enough – it is! I’ve visited Ginghamsburg a few times over the years, but somehow I’ve always been there on a week when Mike wasn’t speaking. So while I know of him, and had hear many good [...]
Through My Eyes by Tim Tebow

I don’t follow college football much at all, but I had heard about Tim Tebow in the news a bit, and happened to catch some of him on TV during his college years, including the Gators first National Title (during his time there) back in ’07. And then I tuned in to see them play against my alma mater [...]

I’ve had this book for a while. I saw my friend Adam had reviewed some books from BookSneeze. I signed up for an account, selected this book, and got it as a PDF. I started and stopped to read it on my computer a few times, checked out the hard copy from the library a few times, and then after I [...]
