Recently, I read a very thought-provoking book that my friend Tom recommended to me. The book is called The Present Future by Reggie McNeil, and it offered some very good insights into what we, as the church, should be all about. My church is more "missional" than others I know of, but like many things there is always room for improvement. I think there are still FAR too many people that believe our church is the building where we come to sing songs, hear a good message, and chat with some friends/acquaintances. That is NOT what Jesus started, and he's called us to so much more.
