This seems to be a recurring theme in several books I've read in recent years; that "outsiders" see most Christians as judgmental. Isn't that sad?? As "little Christs" (what the word Christian) means, shouldn't we be known for the same types of things that He was? During his 33 years here on earth, Jesus was known for his love and acceptance - not his judgments. He welcomed ALL to come to him - not only those who looked, talked, and acted a certain way. When, exactly did so many of our churches begin to pull so far away from the message of Jesus and take a stance of self-righteousness and judgement?

Do you know who has done the most to tear down Jesus and the teachings from the Bible? It's not agnostics, atheists, Scientologists, Muslims or anyone else - it's Christians. When we profess to believe one thing and do the opposite, that hurts the name of Jesus. When we place a Jesus fish on our car or wear a cross around our neck, but seldom show Christ's love to those around us... we are not living up to what He called us to do.

I highly recommend Mark's book to those that already know the Lord and may have conversations like this with their friends around the corner. I would also suggest this book to anyone seeking answers to some of these questions, who may currently be a little unsure of God and "the church". I, as a Christian man, will surely disappoint you one way or another, sooner or later. The people in your church will sometimes - you can count on it. Our only faultless example of how to live our lives is found in Jesus. And this book gives countless examples of how He responded to some of these same questions.

I read this book years ago when a co-worker and mine began to have some God-centered discussion. We read both this book, and Lee Strobel'sThe Case for Faith: A Journalist Investigates the Toughest Objections to Christianity and had some great discussions. That was around '02/'03.

Flash forward several years, and we were doing some of Lee's Faith Under Fire DVD studies / discussions in our Small Group, and we started talking about reading The Case for Christ next. We all had a copy, and most of us had read it at some time in the past. But since so much time had passed, it was mostly like reading it for the first time - for me at least.
